AXOR - Caracalla - Twist Tap

Caracalla - Axor - Hansgrohe
Twist Tap - product design contest winner

Unexpected design which stands on the brink of manufacturability – or, how to stretch the boundaries between common products and the unique, surprising shapes. Functionality and the aim of environmentally conscious use of water shouldn’t be a barrier to the new form language and material use of a product.Hansgrohe has always been on the forefront in innovation and in the realisation of these principles.

The shape of the tap is searching  a connection between the nature and the physical  processes. the main inspiration was the wet towel, and the process when the user squeeze the water out of the towel.

For the twist towel analogy, the perfect geometry form is the simple clean hyperboloid , and this reflects the deformation feeling to the user.

When i choosed the materials was important to be naturalness, so the tap is not a conventional chrome or metal faucet, it is wood and white ceramic combination.
The ground, water and wood are the main materials from the nature, so the ceramic and the wood make full coherence between the sink and tap, removing the feelings of the metal addictions and with this solution the faucet and the sink works together like a unit.
